Profile

I am a freelance .NET developer and tech lead. Before I moved into development full time, I taught programming for twelve years. That still shows: I like to be in the code myself, but I enjoy it just as much when a team gets better at what it does.

I have worked for Pfizer, ArcelorMittal, Daikin and now EDPnet/Citymesh, among others, each time on software the business runs on. I make sure such a system can keep growing without disrupting day-to-day work.

I hold a postgraduate degree in AI (KU Leuven Kulak) and use AI every day in my development work. I help teams do the same, with clear agreements on quality and privacy. I am also a certified Scrum Master (PSM II) and Product Owner (PSPO I).

What I offer

Tech lead

For .NET teams that want a clear technical direction. I work in the code alongside the team and help it make the right choices.

  • Testable, maintainable code as the standard
  • Architecture choices such as Clean Architecture and CQRS
  • Code reviews and pair programming
  • CI/CD in Azure DevOps, GitLab or Jenkins

AI in development work

Choosing the right tools together with the team, agreeing on how to use them and practising on your own code. That way AI becomes a regular part of the work.

  • Project context and ground rules for AI assistants
  • A fixed workflow: analysis, plan, approval, build, review
  • Connections to your own tools through MCP, such as Azure DevOps
  • Agreements on what can and cannot be sent to an AI model

Workshops and training

Hands-on sessions for developers and team leads, on your own code where possible. Twelve years of teaching help to keep things clear.

  • AI-assisted development for .NET teams
  • Architecture and testable code in .NET
  • Scrum in practice for development teams

Scrum Master or Product Owner

Process guidance that stays close to the development work, optionally combined with a developer or tech lead role.

  • User stories developers can actually pick up
  • Clear agreements on quality and the definition of done
  • More flow, fewer unnecessary meetings

Experience

EDPnet / Citymesh

Senior .NET Engineer, AI-assisted development

Since Citymesh acquired EDPnet at the end of 2023, the company has been changing course. Much of its in-house software has to follow: from packages built for internal use to a scalable platform within the Citymesh group. I work across the whole BSS landscape (customer management, provisioning, billing and portals for mobile and fixed lines): six related codebases around one shared database, from .NET Framework 4.8 to .NET 10.

  • Modernisation: building the domain layer and the new Clean Architecture back end that gradually replaces the old back office, with explicit error handling and async from API to database.
  • New APIs: REST APIs behind the new helpdesk, planning and repair tools and the customer portal, so those internal tools could go live sooner.
  • Telecom integrations: number portability, mobile provisioning and eSIM, charging, payments and identity management.
  • Quality: set up a structured test environment and reworked legacy code into testable structures. CI/CD management and IIS optimisation.
  • AI workflow: set up an AI-assisted way of working with Claude Code across all repositories: shared context and ground rules, a fixed flow from plan to pull request, and automation in Azure DevOps.
  • Privacy: care for personal data such as phone numbers and SIM details in logging.

Pfizer

Technical Owner, Scrum Master and .NET Developer

The production site in Puurs is full of edge devices. To manage them better, Pfizer needed custom software that lets users manage and control the devices and report on them.

  • Central IoT management: co-developed a serverless application with microservices on Kubernetes / OpenShift to manage and monitor the devices centrally, in a GMP environment.
  • CI/CD: introduced automated test and deployment pipelines in Jenkins, resulting in more stable releases and less manual work.
  • Team guidance: supported the team as Scrum Master and technical point of contact, which made feature delivery smoother.

ArcelorMittal

.NET Developer

Because of the sanctions against Russia, the port division suddenly had to handle far more goods. The planning system had to be scaled up and optimised quickly.

  • Logistics: built functionality to track incoming ships and plan loading and unloading per crane.
  • Modernisation: introduced MVVM and a message pattern in the WPF applications, and CQRS in the Web API for better scalability.
  • Data integration: complex data exchange between systems in SQL Server through Entity Framework.

Daikin Europe

.NET Developer and Product Manager

The R&D and test department wanted to breathe new life into an older application to improve its test environment. That application helps deliver firmware updates to installers across Europe.

  • Legacy renewed: moved older C# WPF and VB.NET WinForms applications to a modern MVVM architecture, keeping the firmware updates working.
  • Protocols: reverse-engineered and fine-tuned data protocols to communicate with new CPUs, and controlled external test boxes over MQTT.
  • Release management: end-to-end responsibility for integrating new firmware, together with R&D sites in Ostend, Czechia, Germany and Turkey.
  • Test automation: built an API layer to plug the desktop application into an automated test framework (Robot Framework, Jenkins), improving quality and speeding up releases.

Broederschool Sint-Niklaas / HoGent

IT teacher and lecturer

Taught the fundamentals of IT to 16- and 17-year-olds for more than ten years, and also lectured at HoGent in 2016–2017.

  • Subjects: programming in VB.NET and C#, web development (HTML, CSS, ASP.NET), databases (MySQL) and networking (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP).
  • Projects: coached student teams using Scrum, for example on IoT home automation and WPF games. For many students this was the start of their career as a developer.
  • Curriculum: designed my own courses in C#, .NET, web development and network administration.
